A Guide to the Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure (IDRP)

If you have a question about your Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) membership or benefits, or are unsure about your entitlement, please contact either your employer or Highland Pension Fund. We will do our best to resolve your query as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Resolving Issues Informally

Most enquiries and concerns can be resolved through an informal discussion. In many cases, issues arise because of misunderstandings or incorrect information and can be put right quickly without the need for a formal complaint.

We encourage members to raise any concerns with us first, as this may save time and avoid the need for a formal dispute.

If Your Issue Cannot Be Resolved

While we hope that most matters can be settled informally, we recognise that this is not always possible.

The Internal Dispute Resolution Procedure (IDRP) is the formal process for resolving disputes about decisions made in relation to your LGPS membership or benefits. This guide explains how the IDRP process works and how you can make an application.
