McCloud Judgment
The Government has now confirmed that changes will be made to all main public sector schemes, including the LGPS, to remove unlawful age discrimination following changes to public sector pension schemes in 2014/2015. This ruling is often referred to as the 'McCloud judgment'

Pensions Increase 2020
Your Highland Council pension is increased annually in line with the Pensions Increase Order which is currently linked to the Consumer Prices Index (CPI). The increase is calculated in line with the CPI index based on the 12 months to September 2019. As the September 2019 CPI rate was 1.7%, your annual pension will increase by 1.7% from Monday 6 April 2020

Changes to early retirement reduction factors
As a result of the Governments Budget announcement on 29 October 2018 a change to the early retirement reduction percentages now applies.
Amendment of the Local Government Pension Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2018
From the 1 June 2019 the Local Government Pension Scheme (Miscellaneous Amendments) (Scotland) Regulations 2019 allow for all deferred members to access their pensions, once they attain the age of 55, in line with the pension freedoms as set out in the Finance Act 2015.
